ALBANY — In a display of unity that observers described as moving, choreographed, or both, Rep. Greene — the delegation's most famous insurgent — joined all eighteen of her House colleagues in endorsing the establishment governor for reelection, in a single joint statement issued at once, like weather.

The statement praised the governor's tireless leadership in language so uniform that linguists could not determine which of the nineteen offices produced it, a mystery the offices called collaboration.

The Press notes the mechanics without judgment: a politician celebrated for fighting the machine has endorsed the machine, and the machine has endorsed her back. This transaction occurs in both parties, every cycle, and is called selling out when they do it and coalition-building when we do, pronouns assignable at checkout.

Supporters of Rep. Greene explained that this endorsement was strategic, which is the word for an endorsement one's own side makes; the other side's version is capitulation.

The governor accepted the delegation's support, calling it proof the party was united against chaos — chaos being, in every joint statement of this genre, the other team's unity.
