Governor Kemp Unveils a Fund to Pour Out-of-State Money Into Governor's Races His Party Usually Loses
The governors' association chair calls it 'going on offense'; the states on the receiving end will call it something else

LOUISVILLE — Governor Kemp, chairing his party's governors' association, gathered four fellow governors in his home state Thursday to predict a wave election in November and to announce a new fund dedicated to electing his party in states where it usually does not win, a first for the association, with a launch set for next week and a size the association declined to disclose.
The governors blamed the White House for the cost of living, for tariffs, and for a war, and said the American dream was 'out of reach,' which is the phrase governors use when their party is out of the White House and stop using the moment it is back in.
The Press's governors desk observes that a national committee steering money into other states' elections is 'outside interference' when the other party's committee does it and 'expanding the map' when yours does. Every governor at the podium, Kemp included, has denounced outside money in his own race; every governor at the podium is now outside money in someone else's.
Asked for the fund's size, the association said details would follow, which The Press notes is also what the other party's association says about its funds, and is also true.
At press time the map had not expanded, but the fund had a name, which in the governors' business is the harder part.
